Cynthia Kinney is dancing with Jesus in the wildflowers of heaven. All of us who knew her miss her dearly and are trying to find comfort in the knowledge that her suffering is at an end. She battled Ataxia Cerebellum as she lived her life - with a smile and genuine affection for everyone around her. She passed on March 28, 2021 at Scandia Village - Good Samaritan Society in Sister Bay, WI.
Cindy was born on July 4th, 1941 to the late Kenneth and Crystal (Christopherson) Boller. Madison celebrated with fireworks, and her family enjoyed continuing the tradition. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Terry Kinney, from Sturgeon Bay. She deeply loved all of her children: Toby and Jon of Aurora, CO, Suzanne of Madison, and Mark (Colleen) and grandchildren Claire and Andrew of Sturgeon Bay. She was preceded in death by her brother Bruce and nephew John Boller.
Cindy and Terry grew up a couple of miles apart in Madison, WI, but didn’t meet until college. Cindy was a member of Tri Delta Sorority at UW Madison, and she met her husband Christmas caroling with sorority and fraternity friends. They were married at First United Methodist Church on August 24, 1963.
Her passion for sharing kindness and caring with others led her to many different types of service: working as a teacher, an in home licensed daycare provider, and a volunteer Sunday school teacher. Throughout it all, she was a Pastor’s wife. We looked forward to her hugs and smiles, and the world seems dimmer without them. When we see a turtle, we remember her advice to slow down and remember Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God.”
Cindy was a classically trained Midwestern Chef and encouraged her children to help at mealtime, preparing them for life’s culinary journeys. Her homemade spaghetti sauce and carrot cake were legendary to her children. She was very resourceful and had almost no kitchen waste - her kids love to tell the story of the duck egg cake.
Her memorial service will be on May 8, 2021, and we will follow the advice she gave many times: No cold pricklies. Only warm fuzzies.
