While “A Cherry Pie Christmas” takes place in the "Cape Cod of the Midwest" in Door County, the music behind the film was born in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Composer Ed Grenga is no stranger to providing the soundtracks for Christmas movies. His credits include “The March Sisters at Christmas” (2012), “The Spruces and the Pines” (2017), “A Snow White Christmas” (2018), “Christmas a la Mode” (2019), “Christmas on Ice” (2020), “A Cape Cod Christmas” (2021), “A Show-Stopping Christmas” (2022), “The Snowball Effect” (2022), “Letters to Santa” (2023) and “A Very Vermont Christmas” (2024), in addition to “A Cherry Pie Christmas.”
Grenga never thought about his musical scores becoming part of someone else's holiday traditions. However, he knows of at least one person who has made his work part of hers: Staci Griesbach, who helped bring the idea of a Door County Christmas movie to life.
His relationship with fellow Massachusetts native John Stimpson helped bring him on board for “A Cherry Pie Christmas” and gave him a sense of the music he would be creating.
Destination Door County is already planning the second edition of its Door County Christmas Trail, which attracted more than 3,000 participants from 35 states and generated more than $36,000 in trackable sales between Nov. 1 and Jan. 5 last winter.
The Southern Door Auditorium will also host a screening of the film Dec. 12.
