Y-Wednesday: Food brings people to the YMCA

You will have plenty of opportunities to satisfy your appetite for food and thirst for fitness over the next several weeks at the Door County YMCA.

During this week’s Y-Wednesday podcast, Communications and Outreach Executive Amy Gamble highlighted several upcoming activities, many of which involve food.

On Nov. 4 and Dec. 9, the Sturgeon Bay Program Center will give community members an opportunity to participate in the Lasagna Love program by helping prepare meals for families in need.

On Nov. 19, the Jackie and Steve Program Center in Fish Creek will host a Thanksgiving feast, providing the turkey while attendees bring side dishes and desserts to share.

The upcoming holidays also mean adjusted hours at both program centers, although 24/7 access will remain available.

Looking ahead to December, the Door County YMCA will host its annual Ugly Sweater 5K Fun Run and Walk at 10 a.m. Dec. 5 in Fish Creek. Both program centers will also host their annual soup day Dec. 7. Both events raise money for the Door County YMCA.

You can learn more about these activities by listening to this week’s Y-Wednesday podcast at the link.
