Joseph Pongratz

Joseph Pongratz, 90 years of Egg Harbor, passed away Wednesday morning, March 27, 2024, at Sturgeon Bay Health Services.

    

He was born October 22, 1933, in Milwaukee the son of German immigrants, Joseph and Rosina (Eckmueller) Pongratz. Joseph served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for many years with Delta Airlines in customer service until his retirement. In retirement, Joseph moved to Door County where he enjoyed the outdoors and the fellowship with the residents there. He was very proud of his German heritage.

    

Joseph attended Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay. He enjoyed hunting, cars, and road trips. Joe enjoyed visiting many of the local establishments including one of his favorites, The Log Den in Egg Harbor where he met many who became good friends. He looked forward to the next person he would meet and have a good visit with.

    

He will be missed by all his friends and neighbors, Dan and Patti Lautenbach, Jim and Cheryl Bevins, Dan and Jan Lautenbach, Les and Jeanette Lautenbach, Wayne and Diane Lautenbach, Cal and Katie Lautenbach, Steve and Kim Bell, and so many others that gave joy and importance to Joseph’s life.

    

Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Louis Pongratz.

   

Funeral services will be held Tuesday evening, April 2, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at Huehns Funeral Home with Rev. Anthony Birdsall officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m.

    

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee alongside his parents.

    

Memorials may be directed in his memory to Messmer Catholic High School in Milwaukee, the United States National Parks, or Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

    

If Joe ever wrote a book about his life, he said it would be titled “It’s me Joe”.
