Ervin Louis Cornette, 84, of Forestville passed away on April 8, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born January 10, 1940, in Red River to Louis and Blanche (Jeanquart) Cornette. Erv served his country in the U. S. Army from 1963-1965. After serving in the army, he met Clarice Englebert and married her on October 8, 1966, in Brussels. Together they bought a farm in the Town of Forestville and raised 5 children. Erv also worked at Bay Ship Building until his retirement in 2002. Erv’s greatest passion in life was farming. He loved being outdoors, working on the farm and with the animals. He also enjoyed hunting, and playing cards. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include his five children, Jackie Hoeckendorff (Jay Neinas), Jodi Rass (Michael Bertrand); Jill (Jerry) Kaye, Jayne Hayes (William Hayes), Jesse Cornette (Courtney Weidner). 13 grandchildren, Brandon (Kyla), Levi (Cassie), Austin (Jessica), Roy, Dylan (Jessica), Mercedes (Dylan), Joey (Abigail), KelsyAnn (Michael), Kameron (Alyssa),Dakoda, Marshall, Tucker, Emma, Madelyn, Phoenix, and Selma; 16 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jaydyn, Trevyn, Fayth, Ashyr, Mila, Sawyer, Weston, Layton, Kolt, Zoey, Madison, Sophie, Logan, Mia and one “on the way”; one sister Linda Kinnard and two brothers, Leland (Carol) Cornette and Wayne (Diane) Cornette and his faithful dog Blue. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Clarice; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Evelyn Jennerjohn; a sister, Nancy Brown and an infant sister. Special thanks to Compassus Hospice and Jessica Soquet for all the help and support. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, April 12, 2024, at Holy Name of Mary Church in Maplewood. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Forbes Funeral Home is serving the family.
