Evelyn Ann (Wilke) Ploor

   Evelyn Ann (Wilke) Ploor, 103 of Sturgeon Bay, passed away peacefully late Tuesday evening, April 9, 2024.

     Evelyn was born December 17, 1920 in the Town of Forestville to August and Lydia (Diefenbach) Wilke. They moved to the Town of Sevastopol where she started school and graduated in the class of 1938. Evelyn worked as a nanny for the Kellner family after graduation. She married Wilfred Joseph Ploor on June 3, 1942 at S.S. Peter & Paul Rectory in Institute. They farmed on Ploor Road in the Town of Sevastopol. Besides helping out on the farm, she also worked in the cherry factories. In January of 1963, she started work at Sevastopol Schools as a cook and retired from there in 1987. They enjoyed dances at Fernwood Gardens and playing sheepshead with several groups of friends. Wilfred passed away on March 21, 1990. Evelyn was a good cook and baker and she made each of her grandchildren a denim patch quilt. In 1995, she moved from the farm to a house in Sturgeon Bay and in 2022 moved to Pine Crest Assisted Living.

     Evelyn is survived by four children, Tom (Pat) Ploor of Sturgeon Bay, Charlene Mueller of Egg Harbor, Marilyn (Norman) Sissom of Manchester, TN, and Randall (Sue) Ploor of Sturgeon Bay; grandchildren, Dennis (Ann) Ploor, Michael (Melissa) Ploor, Jeffrey (Penny) Ploor, Michelle (Tom) Fellin, Michael (Stacey Mortvedt) Mueller, Mark (Cambria) Mueller, Brian (Jennifer) Sissom, Eric Sissom, Derek (Ivy) Ploor and Trina (Michael) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Demi, Mya, Sara, Emma, Cody (Emma), Brendan (Rhiannon) Ploor, and Connor and Tucker Mueller; and nieces and nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son-in-law, Herbert Mueller; and brothers, Melvin (Virginia) Wilke, Harold (Evelyn) Wilke; sisters, Adeline (Frank) Arbter, Mabel (Richard) Sternard, Emily (Aloysius) Ploor, Lucille (Nels) Nelson, and Jeanette (Donald) Mann; brothers-in-law, Sylvester (Harriet) Ploor, Walter Ploor, Aloysius (Emily) Ploor; and sister-in-law, Beatryce (Norman) Jacobson.

     Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Institute with Fr. Matthew Rappl officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery beside her husband, Wilfred.

     Visitation for family and friends will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.

     Memorials can be given to S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church or Unity Hospice.
