Honoring the Greek goddess of the hunt, the Open Door Bird Sanctuary has named their newest member of the Raptor Team ‘Artemis’. The name was chosen from among 150 responses to the organization’s call for name suggestions.
Artemis is a Broadwing Hawk, and was acquired by ODBS from a rehabilitation organization in Antigo, WI. Artemis was rehabilitated from a car strike.
As members of the ODBS work with Artemis and train her, she will make appearances at Raptor Saturdays, upcoming on October 17, and November 21, 10:30am-4pm. Owl-Elujah Christmas is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5.
The Open Door Bird Sanctuary is located at 4114 County I, Jacksonport.
