United Way of Door County

Sharing the "gouda" works of United Way

Category: Local News

A stop at Wisconsin Cheese Masters in Egg Harbor on select Saturdays this month could net you more than just a better cheddar. United Way of Door County has provided celebrity cheesemongers at the storefront for the past several years. Not only do visitors get a chance to sample some of the best cheeses from around the state, but they also get to learn about the work of United Way of Door County, much of which may otherwise go unnoticed.

United Way of Door County Executive Director Amy Kohnle says it is a great opportunity to educate people about the organization's programs, especially the many cheese aficionados visiting from outside the area.

Stewart and Theresa Fett, Tara DuBois and Ann Smejkal will work behind the counter this Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at Wisconsin Cheese Masters. Celebrity cheesemongers will also work the counter Oct. 17.

In August, United Way of Door County announced its annual campaign goal of $1.25 million, which helps support nearly two dozen programs and partners, including United Way of Door County's Child Care Initiative, Healthy Door County, STRIDE — School-Based Mental Health Services, the Door County Alcohol and Other Drug Coalition, and the Door County Partnership for Children and Families.
