Oh, bother? Not in Door County! Yes, Pooh, two Door county communities are celebrating on October 14, the 100th anniversary of the publication of A.A. Milne’s beloved Winnie-the-Pooh.
For the day, the Town of Washington will become “The Hundred Acre Wood,” while the Village of Egg Harbor will be known as “The Bee Friendly Village.” Both communities municipal boards signed ceremonial proclamations honoring Pooh’s centennial and celebrating the joys of reading, libraries, and time spent outdoors.
The proclamations are part of Winnie-Pooh-Looza, a month-long, countywide celebration organized by the Friends of Door County Libraries, featuring dozens of free programs and activities inspired by Pooh, from storytelling and creative writing to art and outdoor adventures.
