As Door County’s only non-profit yoga and wellness center organization, a second year of successful operation is reason to celebrate for The Yoga Womb.
For the week of October 4-11, the studio at 58 W. Maple Street, Sturgeon Bay, is offering all classes for free. Not only is this a way for people to try a class they’ve been eyeing or tentative to try, said Yoga Womb Executive Director Brooke Ulrich, it’s also a way to experience the community that The Yoga Womb works to cultivate.
Mat pilates instructor Amber Novotny said the community space is what drew her to teach at The Yoga Womb.
To fulfill the non-profit mission of The Yoga Womb year round, the studio offers weekly free classes such as meditation, trauma informed yoga, and a sobriety circle. Through annual donations, a scholarship fund is maintained, awarding 12 scholarships to people who qualify and commit to attending classes.
Ashley Adams, a yoga instructor specializing in trauma informed yoga, said she thrives in the spirit of community at The Yoga Womb.
To help support the scholarship fund and year round weekly free class offerings, The Yoga Womb is also hosting a silent auction this week, with online bidding available. The week’s celebrations will culminate in a Capstone Celebration on Sunday, Oct. 11 from 12-2pm, with free treats, henna, entertainment by the ‘Hype Dancers’, and winners of the silent auctions. Anyone wanting to take a free class this week must register on The Yoga Womb’s website.
